Episode 247

Maris Piper bombs, Everything Everything bassist's mum, and Don't Get Me Started

Show broadcast on 1 December 2018

A slightly different vibe to the podcast this week as heroic, brave, valiant John 'Courage' Robins battled through a mild cold to broadcast to the nation - aided and abetted by his friend/surrogate son Eis. The boys asked for your tales of overcoming relationship obstacles, Ticked Off a variety of Tastes, learnt about chips, and outlined the pros and cons of a 17 degree temperature.

Podcast intro

A bizarre email has been sent into the show, apparently to pass on a message to Johnny Vaughan, criticising the lack of "British Christian values" and encouraging radio presenters that "If you like Muslim so much, you should move there".

Follow up to last week's conversation about the comparative risks of air and road travel.

More chat about haircut prices.

As requested, older PCDs have contacted the show with their age and an early gig they saw back in the day.

Elis to John: "I think you have too many fictional auctions in your mind."

John's introduction of Elis

"(Elis does the show open as John has a cold so is resting his voice and being incredibly brave and stoic.)"

Conversations and riffs

John has contracted a virus while on the 'Holy Vible' tour that means he snores at night but has a sexy broadcasting voice. Speaking of noise, did you know that Dan Ackroyd has a private luxury train carriage he travels around in because he doesn't like flying or disruption from other passengers?

Producer Vin had an opportunity to meet one of his favourite bands Everything Everything but got nervous. However, he thinks he sat next to one of their mums once.

Elis riffs about December while John looks for an email.

Text-in topic

Listeners text and tweet during the show on this week's topic.

What changes have you had to make for the sake of a happy relationship? (Keep it light)

Elis James' Light-Hearted Paper Review

Elis' selection of humorous stories from this week's newspapers.

We've all seen the giant cow, haven't we? Giles Coren in the Times: Let's get flat-pack defibrillators and upgrade our wives at the Apple Store. A portion of fries should contain only six chips. Tips on what makes a good party, according to celebrities, and Elis and John.

Made-Up Games

Listeners suggest made-up games that Elis and John can play.

Don't Get Me Started: Each player has to go on a rant about a topic picked by the other player. Best rant wins.

There was a 16th century 'ranter'/prophet called John Robins.

Tick Off a Taste

The gang try a new taste sensation sent in by a listener.

Dried garlic cloves, sour plum coated peanuts and ginger menthol sweets.

The 'Keep It Session' Sessions

A special section at the end of the podcast for music recommendations.
