Episode 65

Hungover Elis, Public Tellings Off & Mark Lawrenson Swearing

Show broadcast on 9 May 2015

What a week. Post-election, post-Super Furry Animals, post-Robins' birthday. All this was discussed by James and Robins, though perhaps more coherently by John. Elis was rather hungover. We also wanted to hear about when you've been told off in public, and, as ever, there's more Winner Plays On, Textual Healing, Email of the Species and a special chapter of A Robins Amongst The Pigeons.

John's introduction of Elis

"To my left is the returning officer for Anecdote-shire North. "

Conversations and riffs

Elis is hungover after going to see the Super Furry Animals play. He's also not brought a birthday present in for John, whose birthday was earlier in the week. He offers John the cash content of his wallet. John plays back his great birthday weekend involving mates, pubs and Pizza Express. Then does a lovely impression of Elis and Josh Widdicombe going on about the Wales football team at the Super Furries gig instead of watching the band.

Elis expresses his love of Italian restaurant chains and wheat-based cuisine: "God, I love pasta!".

Chapter 26: Turning the Tables. John hands over to Elis and Producer Dave for a candid interview about their friend John.

Has football pundit Mark Lawrenson, independent of Elis, also come up with the radio-friendly insult of calling someone a 'tube'?
