GF Mystery, Clap Clap Lights & When Elis Met John

Show broadcast on 13 October 2018

Another week, another example of John making himself sick with worry. What on earth was his full time GF up to? Find out! Plus, find out why Elis was happy to pick up the bill, but ended up wishing he hadn't. There's all that plus a very important date in John's gig diary, some shock shame, Elis on the TV and a lengthy Potato Potato!

Podcast intro

Following on from last week's podcast intro, a further insight into John's bag of death. John contemplates getting rid of it but it would need to be disposed of securely.

John's introduction of Elis

"To my left, the surprise winner of Welsh reality TV show 'Strictly Come Sluicing'. The 29-part BBC Wales show sees celebrities compete to win votes from professional farmers based on how well they sluice a variety of out-buildings. After winning the public's hearts with his unique take on disinfecting a cow shed, he went on to dominate the final, which focused on cattle grids and stables. "

Conversations and riffs

Imagine trolling someone via the reference field of a BACS payment.

John has a panic this week when his girlfriend (full-time) didn't return his texts and calls for almost 24 hours. But it was all broadly fine.

Elis will be representing the Welsh on Al Murray's new show on the History Channel about why everyone hates the English.

John's Shame Well

John frees another listener of their shame.

A misunderstanding leads to you indicate to a friend that his father has died when, fortunately, he hasn't.

John's Gig Diaries

John reads aloud from diaries he kept during his early stand-up days.

John quits Borders bookshop (now defunct). He does a gig at the Yellow Kangaroo but perhaps his 'bum hole' segway is too edgy for the audience. On 15 May 2005, John meets Elis for the first time!

Humblebrag

More examples of that scourge of social media, the humblebrag.

A motivational speaker describes reading their own book to a fan on their death bed as "priceless".

Made-Up Games

Listeners suggest made-up games that Elis and John can play.

Peter With The Teeth: Requires three or more people. One person says the name of a person they know that the other players don't. The other players take it in turn to describe what they think that person is like physically and personality-wise. The first person awards the round to the player whose description was closest.

Tick Off a Taste

The gang try a new taste sensation sent in by a listener.

Umeboshi - Japanese pickled fruit.

The 'Keep It Session' Sessions

A special section at the end of the podcast for music recommendations.
